Resumen : | The use of heuristics for solving optimization problems with restrictions is a useful option, additional to classical techniques. Generally, heuristics are applied for the search of solutions that can be considered as acceptable, with a reasonable computational cost, and guarantying the feasibility and efficiency of them. In related work on this subject, Storm and Price proposed a heuristic known as Differential Evolution (DE), while Kennedy and Eberhart presented another heuristic, denominated as Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO.) In this sense, there is an abundance of investigation that has been developed by other authors in order to modify such methods for the treatment of optimization problems with restrictions, but this work hasn´t deepened the analysis of real practical problems. For that reason, this thesis proposes a redesign methodology, focused on the parameters of a Alpha-type Stirling engine, and taking as a base a cinematic analysis of that type of engine. This is translated in an optimization problem, which is finally solved by means of three methods: the two heuristics techniques mentioned earlier, and a third one using the fmincon function, included in the toolbox library of the Matlab application. Finally, a comparison of results obtained by the application of the three methods is made, with special emphasis on the performance of the heuristic techniques. |
