Título : Análisis de los obstáculos en la construcción del concepto de Dependencia Lineal de vectores en alumnos de primer año de la universidad

Descripción : The purpose of this thesis is to communicate the development and results of a research conducted in Faculties of the “Universidad Nacional del Nordeste” (UNNE), Argentina, particularly in the “Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales y Agrimensura”. The present work was motivated by the need to give an explanation to serious difficulties perceived in first year students in the appropriation of linear vectors dependence and linear vectors independence concepts and the intrinsic importance of these ideas, which underlie to others no less fundamental concepts. After substantiating the relevance and pertinence of this work, the problem under study is defined by means of a central question that in turn is broken down into a dozen of other questions that lead the exploration. For each of these questions the place in the thesis where it is answered, the elements of analysis, methods, techniques and tools used in the development of this answer are indicated. It is also defined the methodological framework that supports this mixed descriptiveexplicative study based on observations, data collection, historical-graphical analysis and content analysis. Although the main approach is qualitative, in some cases quantitative methods are also used. The next step is the introduction of the theoretical framework of reference. It specifies the major theoretical concepts of the Educative Mathematics research field that explain not only the inquiries but also how to approach the posed problem. What follows is a historical-epistemological analysis of the involved concepts and a review of the research conducted by the most recognized authors in Teaching and Learning Linear Algebra. With the purpose of investigating the state of how those concepts are taught in our country, a number of studies regarding their status in High Schools, the UNNE and higher education textbooks is conducted. Considerations about linear dependence and independence from the Mathematics and Educative Mathematics perspectives are also posed, discussing in depth concepts and definitions, their capability, semantic incongruity, conceptual field and two specific praxeologies needed for further exploration. The resources, methodological aspects and the data analyzing process collected in the empirical stage which took four moments are described. Finally, conclusions are organized in six sections that synthesize the reasons of the obstructions found in the building process of the concepts already mentioned.
