Abstract

Analysis of the promoter region of the clcetate-inclucecl isocitr tte ly:J>c gene (ocu-3) of Neurospora crus.w w:Js undert:tkcn. A series of deletions in the 5' non-tr tnscribed region were constructed :mel the effects of these mutation s on the enzyme levels following gro\\'th on sucrose and transfer to ncetale \\'ere measured. Sc:quences wtthin the region -603 to -271 n.:lati\c to the transcription start s ite appear essential for transcription.
