Descripción : SrFe12O19 fine particles were synthesized by the sol–gel method and heat treatment was carried out in oxygen-controlled atmosphere. SrFe12O19 hexaferrite was obtained at 2508C. The effect of the SrCO3 phase hindering the synthesis of the hexaferrite in air atmosphere at lower temperatures is analyzed. The samples were studied by infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The morphology of the samples was analyzed by transmission electron microscope ŽTEM.. Grain size was determined by X-ray diffraction. q2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
