Resumen : After use, the lubricant oil acquires high concentrations of heavy metals due to engine wear and to contact with fuels. Speaking of metal pollution must be considered, the form or chemical species under which they are to be found, this is going to influence their distribution in the soil. The toxicity of zinc is too rare but it has been reported gastrointestinal upset and diarrhea after ingestion of drinks remained in galvanized cans or use of galvanized utensils. The objective of this study was to determine the removal of zinc by the white rot fungus Pleurotus ostreatus in soil affected with car used oil in the city of Durango, Dgo. The white rot fungus Pleurotus ostreatus B4 M1 DNA removed, after 15th day, from contaminated soils 34% of the initial concentration of Zn (1943.835mg/Kg soil), and 46.3% at 30 days. The removal of zinc can be increased according to conditions of moisture, inoculums size, and species or variety of Pleurotus sp.
