Infraestructura, competitividad y desarrollo regional en el área Tula-Tepeji, Hidalgo

Abstract

The regional development is a subject of actuality in Mexico about the low economic growth, which has been taken since the end of the Mexican miracle in the early 1970's, to date, we can count 40 years of low economic growth , that compared to social needs, is already expressed as a lag. This condition parallels the new economy, build an unfavorable outlook for the country, for this reason, when Federal investments are made, social vision is establish, that in the region where they apply, there will be a regional development without consider not to have the same pattern of conditions. In this work, the study is conducted of a package of federal investments, which are announced and begin to build in the south west of the state of Hidalgo, in the Tula region called Tepeji, in order to reveal the relevance of expected the momentum of regional development investments. Consistent with the current economic phase is put into perspective the competitiveness that is expected to generate with these projects. To this effect, an analysis of the economic characteristics of the region, income levels, the percentage of economically active population and the needs that these projects aims to address the amounts that apply to each of them the number of direct and indirect jobs. Taking as a result these projects are to strengthen the tertiary sector currently has the main characteristic of the region. Adding to the region's comparative advantages that can be maximized, but require a strong involvement of the various levels of government and local society.
