Modelación de la marea en la Bahía de La Paz, B.C.S.

Abstract

The propagation of the tide using the harmonics M2, N2, S2, K2,01, and K1, in Bahía de La Paz, is simulated by means of a vertically integrated numerical model. The partial differential equations were integrated through centered finite differences in space and advanced in time. The model output is the surface variation of the free surface, the bidimensional vectorial current distributions, the distribution of maximum elevations, and the phase lags of the high tide with respect to the open boundary with the Gulf of California. The model predictions were compared qualitatively and quantitatively, against field measurements of variations of level and current velocity, producing a satisfactory result.
