CARACTERIZACIÓN MECÁNICA DEL HUESO TRABECULAR Y CORTICAL PORCINO MEDIANTE CARGAS DE COMPRESIÓN

Abstract

This work concern about to obtaining the mechanical properties of porcine vertebral bone, particularly of the lumbar vertebra number 5. The first chapter shows the general aspects of trabecular and cortical bone also talks about the spine and finally talks about researchers who have done works on the characterization of bone and the question arises about the great variety of results. In the second chapter discusses the lumbar vertebrae and its pathologies, the similarities and differences in human and porcine spine, and later the theoretical aspects that shall to be considered for performing the compression tests. The chapter number three presents the implementation of the compression test, starting with the design of the specimen, obtaining the specimen, the test realization and analysis of the obtained data. Chapter four discusses about the data obtained in the third chapter, but numerically, also the geometry is created and meshed, boundary conditions are defined and load is applied, which increases linearly every second , finally data are analyzed. In chapter five is a comparison of results, with the results of other researchers and the margins of error.
