Análisis del viento frente a Bahía San Hipólito y el área comprendida entre Bahía Magdalena Y Cabo San Lucas, B.C.S. en junio y julio de 1989

Abstract

In June & July 1989, using the Research Vessel "El Puma", wind data was collected off the coast of Baja California Sur. Two areas were studied. The first one located off Bahía San Hipolito had winds from West to North, following general atmospheric circulation. These were modified by local conditions close to shore and fluctuations caused by desert atmospheric conditions at sunrise and sunset. The second area, from Bahía Magdalena to Cabo San Lucas, had no defined pattern but did have large changes in velocity and direction. The main pattern showed 67% of the wind direction was from the West to North with the prevailing wind speed of 5 m/s and a maximum speed of 15 m/s.
